What makes this move even classier is that Ford's marketing head, Jim Farley, has spoken openly about

t. Looks like Chevy has better sportsmanship. They didn't have to, considering the Camaro has been beating the Mustang in sales for the last 3 years. The Chevy folks could have been dicks. Maybe the recall fiasco has humbled them a bit.
Of course, why GM took the time to note other major corporate rivalries in the release is a complete mystery to me. What do Coke vs. Pepsi, Nike vs. Reebok, and Leno vs. Letterman have to do with Camaro vs. Mustang? That just seems silly.

Reposting from another thread I posted this in b/c it still makes me chuckle.
Ford should do a similar deal in a few years:
"Happy 5oth Birthday Camaro*"
*Well....42 years (1967–2002 and 2010–present)

Absolutely. It'd be the perfect troll.
Of course, Chevy could always respond with pics of the 4cyl Mustang II being out-dragged by a contemporary Pinto and the Probe that would have replaced the Mustang had their fans not mailed death threats to Dearborn.

Eh, GM had done some things at that time to Ford that could cause them some great anger towards them. You cant really hold that against them.

There were a bunch of little things the had ticked off a lot of people at Ford. But the big one was that once GM received the bailout they got a bunch of perks that Ford couldnt get. So Ford was pretty jaded that the reward they got for working hard and fixing the problem themselves was a long road to recovery and their competitor had their mismanagement rewarded with a clean slate.
Its been to long since I've read that book to remember the relevance of that quote. But that would be my guess as to why he said it. Farley had only been there a few years at that point, pretty quick to create that sort of hatred by normal means.
